Become A Better Filmmaker at the
    CiAO Mid-Month Meeting for July

Meeting Friday the 22nd at 6:30 pm

We would also like to emphasize and encourage the concept of "networking", as well. People who get to know you will remember you and think about you when the time comes for various aspects of filmmaking. It is therefore of the utmost importance that everyone who is interested in any aspect of indie filmmaking to attempt to make the meetings, whether you are a writer, filmmaker, actor, crew person, or anyone and everyone else. We will attempt to make the meetings of interest and value for everyone who attends. (suggestions, contributions, and participation are appreciated)

The meeting will be at our old, original stomping grounds, Mountain Mike's Pizza at 1722 Mangrove Ave #28.

Shawn and Jim are moving the NQH office, so we've probably had our last meeting at that location. We might be able to have meetings at the new location when they get one. Thanks again to Shawn and Jim for letting us use their office for our meetings.

The film submission period for the First Annual 2011 Show Us Your Shorts! Film Festival has now passed and the response was very good, in quantity and quality. Set aside the weekend of August 11 thru 13 (Thurs. – Sat.) for attendance. Check out the website for more information. www.ShowUsYourShorts.org

Summer/Fall Local Productions Information:

• Production on James Smith's latest indie short film, Ralphie II (a sequel to Ralphie), went very well, and is completed except for one more short day of pickup shots. They hope to finish post-production in time to premiere the film at our Chico Show Us Your Shorts! Film Festival in August.

NQH also recently completed a 20-second TV advertising commercial spot for the 2011 Slice of Chico event, and a music video for the band Brass Hysteria!

• Production on Joshua Siegel's indie short film, "A Midsummer Nightmare: The Betrayal", has wrapped and he is now in post-production. They may still be looking for a 3D modeler/ designer for key effects for the film. Check out their facebook page for the most recent news and updates:

• There will be at least one more local short film production this year, probably around a September timeframe. Shawn Dyer is In Development of Fly.

• Joe Batt is planning on making more Spot On Movie Reviews By Amazing People. (contact Joe if you are interested in doing one (acting and/or writing) and/or helping out in some way)

• And possibly two short advertising commercials / infomercials / webmercials for a local business.

• We have little information on the Pelican House Production that has probably completed principal photography in the Gridley (/Chico) area. This production was apparently a "real" indie short, up from L.A., and had actress Janeane Garofalo as one of its talent.

If you are planning something, please let us know.
