The monthly meeting for October is Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 pm, at the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library, located at 1108 Sherman Ave., at the corner of Sherman Ave. and E. 1st Ave. (map below)

Nuclear Family begins the story of a young couple, John and Lynn, who are trying to survive in the woods after what appears to be a nuclear holocaust. They stay on the move with their 11-year-old daughter, Pauline... all the while searching for their missing 8-year-old son, Grant. Meanwhile, present society has disintegrated, and the family must stay one step ahead of the Berserkers: lawless, wild, brutal men who rape, pillage and destroy as a way of life.

Shot as a pilot presentation for a TV series, the story will take this family, and the others they meet along the way, in their search for Grant and to avoid the Berserkers, to discoveries beyond the existing reality.

Starring Corin Nemec, Ray Wise, Danielle Harris, Sharon Lawrence, Lee Arenberg.

It has some known actors, and it's a high-budget, professionally-produced series. The TV series wasn't picked up, so they are presenting it this way rather than letting it disappear into the void, never to be seen. (good idea) This might mean that it is only 5 or 6 – 5- to 10-minute episodes, rather than a continuing series. So it's probably more of a web mini-series. But probably better than nothing. It will probably be decent to good or better. Although it has young kids, so that might ruin it. Only online.

CiAO meetings are now held once a month, usually near the middle of the month, on varying days of the week to give everyone a chance to attend when they can, a maximum of two hours in length, sometime between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The Consortium is a varied group of people interested in independent film and other related areas. Including all areas of indie film production, film in general, other productions of various kinds, multimedia, watching and appreciation. There tends to be an emphasis on indie films and filmmaking, particularly nano-budget, micro-budget, and small-budget filmmaking. All are welcome to join us, whether you are a writer, director, producer, actor, crew person, cinephile, or any other interested party. (suggested age range: mature teen through adult)
