Monthly meeting for August is Wednesday 15th at 6:30 pm

We have at least one new person who will be attending the meeting.

The monthly meeting for August will be Wednesday, August 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, at the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library, located at 1108 Sherman Ave., at the corner of Sherman Ave. and E. 1st Ave. (map below)

The 2012 2nd Annual Shortz Film Fest occurs in about a week and a half, the weekend of August 24th and 25th, Saturday and Sunday.

Pick a day or attend both days, one to enjoy the films, the other to analyze the various aspects of each film to learn more about shot selection, directing (indirectly), editing (cutting on action, etc.), lighting (painting with light and shadow), sound (arguably around 25%-50% of a film's success), music, and other aspects of (indie) filmmaking.

Tickets are $10. The schedule of 23 films is posted, many made in the Chico area by our local filmmakers. Let's all go to support The Arts and local filmmaking in Chico. Tell your friends and bring them to the fest. (last year, only about 25% of CiAO people attended the fest — let's break that record this year!)

Check out the website: ShortzFilmFest.com

Next month's meeting will be Wednesday, September 12th.

CiAO meetings are now held once a month, usually near the middle of the month, on varying days of the week to give everyone a chance to attend when they can, a maximum of two hours in length, sometime between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The meeting location is the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library, located at 1108 Sherman Ave., at the corner of Sherman Ave. and E. 1st Ave. See map (click to see larger version).
