As usual, there are several short indie films, and at least one feature-length film,
in various stages of production in the Chico and greater NorCal area.
Here are a few we have heard about through the grapevine:
• We have already mentioned Aamir's short film above. (shooting planned for October)
• Writer/Director/Actor Joe Batt is in pre-production on his first
feature-length film, a paranormal thriller. Shooting is expected to start January 2014.
• Writer/Director/Actor Scott Brown is in pre-production on a western short film,
that may be shot at an actual old west ghost town down south. (September-ish? October-ish?)
• Filmmaker Chris Madrigal is in pre-production on a short film planned for shooting in October.
• Writer/Director Shawn Dyer is in pre-production on a web series about clowns,
produced through his new film company, Ulexite Films.
• Writer/Director/Actor Josh Siegel is shopping his recent web series, "Dream Raiders",
around Hollywood and the greater film ethosphere.
• Filmmaker/Actor Braidon Thorn is the proud new owner of a Canon T3i HD-DSLR camera,
and is eagerly anticipating various projects in the near future. He filmed some interviews
at the Shortz! Film Festival.
• Writer/Director/Cinematographer Paul Hildebrandt is in production on a full-length documentary
about the U.S. Space program.
• Writer/Director/Actor Popeye Theophilus Barrnum (nee Bill Donnelly —
recent new owner of a Canon 7D HD-DSLR camera system) is in pre-production
on three short films, and recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to shoot some footage for a
full-length documentary about female and minority discrimination, hostile work environment,
retaliation, reprisal, workplace bullying, and related issues in the U.S.D.A. Forest Service
and other governmental agencies. (with actor-brother Robert Donnelly and sister Lesa Donnelly
as Producers)
• Other projects have been mentioned, hinted at, rumored, and dreamed about.
