• Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" at the Pageant Sunday, April 19

Sunday April 19 at 8:00 pm (one-time showing), Chico native filmmaker John La Tier brings 9 years of living in New Orleans to the big screen with a screening of his feature film "The Tell-Tale Heart". Starring Patrick John Flueger, Rose McGowan, and Peter Bogdanovich. There will be a Director Q&A after the show. Admission is $10.00.

IMDB Storyline: A haunting account of a tormented man who continually re-admits himself into a medical facility, in a futile attempt to escape from his pending madness. Based on Edgar Allan Poe's, "The Tell-Tale Heart".

This feature-length indie film was shot in New Orleans, LA with an estimated budget less than $500K by newly-relocated, now local-Chico Writer/Director John La Tier. • Bimonthly CiAO Meeting Tuesday 21

The March/April meeting will be this Tuesday, April 21, at 6:00 pm, at Mountain Mike's Pizza located in Mangrove Square, 1722 Mangrove Ave.

Meetings will be bimonthly until interest grows. Join us for interesting discussion with local filmmakers, actors, and others.

 

 

• Community Public Access Cable TV

Channel 11, the local Community Public Access Cable TV station for the Chico area and Butte County is under new management. The city of Chico had previously contracted with Butte College to provide the programming, but the college discontinued operations when its educational programming moved to the Internet. Now, Friends of the Arts, a program of the Upstate Community Enhancement Foundation, has received a 5-year contract to manage the channel.

They will be looking for local programming from local multimedia creators. Their new website is not up yet, but they should be in full swing by September 2015. The effectively new channel's call sign will be BCAC. Stay tuned for more info.

• Miles Montalbano – Local Filmmaker

Writer/Director and independent filmmaker Miles Montalbano relocated from the California Bay Area to Chico and is now the manager of The Pageant Theatre. In 2007 he created an indie film titled "Revolution Summer" from Gray Eminence Films.

It is "a portrait of three restless young urbanites searching for meaning in love, sex, drugs, and political rebellion." This film premiered at the 50th San Francisco International Film Festival in 2007 and was named "One of the Ten Best Films of the Year" and "One of the Best Independent Films of the Decade" by the San Francisco Chronicle.

A link to the trailer is provided below. The film may or may not be viewable on the Internet, and may be available through NetFlix, IMDB and other providers, and possibly from Amazon video.

• The Ha! Fest is coming soon!

Ha! Fest is a one-day, international, comedy-driven film festival hosted in Chico CA, USA. They will showcase some of the funniest films in the world once a year in a no-holds-barred, high energy, laugh-out-loud celebration of the independent filmmaker spirit. The first annual event will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the El Rey Theater.
